Telesummits are all the rage these days. And why not? They're a relatively easy way to get your name and your message out in front of thousands of potential clients.

With the combined promotion of 10, 20, 30+ speakers, even an unknown can become a superstar overnight. Yet still, I hear from incredibly talented service professionals who can't get a foot in the door and they're sick about it. They want to speak on teleseminars and telesummits, but are stuck at the starting line. But where are they stuck? Why is it so easy for some to get the gigs and so difficult for others?

I decided to probe into the problem by sending out a survey. Several hundred people responded to this question:

What's your single biggest challenge when it comes to growing your business through speaking on telesummits and teleseminars?

Based on previous research and heavy anecdotal evidence, I was able to narrow it down to these common frustrations. Survey respondents were asked to pick one.

-Deciding on the best speaking topic
-Knowing how to pitch yourself as a speaker to teleseminar / telesummit hosts
-Creating a great offer for your audience
-Developing your skills as an interviewee / speaker
-Building a list through virtual speaking
-Selecting the best opportunities- how to know if the teleseminar / telesummit is the right fit for you.

The responses surprised me when I broke down the numbers. Most of the information out there to get booked as a virtual speaker is about tools to have on hand. How to get a topic. How to create an offer. How to speak well. How to put together a one sheet. 10 ways to a winning speakers packet... But the one response that got the most urgent "Help Me!" responses was....

drumroll....

How to PITCH yourself as a speaker to teleseminar / telesummit hosts.

"Oh... but I'd much rather prefer a killer app that will do it all for me."

"What if I create a system or a template... come on, anything but actually having to PITCH myself!"

"I'll pay you $10,000 for a paint-by-numbers system... a WordPress Plug In... anything but having to step out there!!!"

"Holy crap..."

Yeah, I hear ya honey. You don't want to look like a total fool, you don't want anyone to find out how new you are to this. And of course you don't want to come across as obnoxious and pushy.

Can you relate?

Here's the bare naked truth on this topic: there are many myths, more than a few untruths, and a lot of misconceptions when it comes to stepping into the virtual speaking world and making a name for yourself. Whether you're on the A-List or not, the rules are changing. I do have a great resource to share with you and I'll be announcing that in a few days. But before I do, I'd love to pick your brain.

What is it about pitching one's services that freaks people out the most? And what advice would you give someone - whether they're just starting out or are experienced - to get their foot in the door?
